Dear Members, Players & Parents,
As we reach the halfway point of 2025, we’re proud to reflect on how far West Coburg Football Club has come in just six months. It’s been an exciting and productive period, and your support has been instrumental to our progress. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve achieved together:
We’ve secured multiple three-year sponsorships, providing a strong foundation for the club’s financial future.
A huge thank you to all our sponsors. Your support is vital, and we are incredibly grateful for your investment in our club, our players, and our community.
Our social media presence continues to grow steadily led by ALFW player Georgia Patrikios, helping us connect with the community and highlight our progress both on and off the field.
Our two weekly Auskick sessions are thriving, giving our youngest players a fantastic introduction to footy.
The Bernie Kirby Junior Academy, now led by Taylor Hines, is delivering high-quality junior development and laying strong foundations for future success.
Most of our junior teams have enjoyed a successful start to the season, and we’re hopeful of finals footy across several age groups in 2025.
We’re fielding two teams across the Under 8s to Under 14s age groups, and four teams in the Under 16s, including two girls teams. This is a fantastic reflection of our club’s growth and commitment to inclusive participation.
Junior registrations are now waitlisted. This is a clear reflection of the demand and reputation our junior program has built.
We’ve proudly reinstated our Under 18s team, coached by Massad Khouri, who currently sit 3rd on the ladder – a fantastic result.
Our Reserves, led by Louie Diab, are sitting 6th, with several key players set to return from injury, putting us in a strong position for the second half of the season.
Under the leadership of former West Coburg player and now Senior Coach Mark Micklethwait, our Seniors are sitting comfortably on top of the ladder. Mark’s passion, drive, and commitment has been outstanding.
A heartfelt thank you to our coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and members. None of this would be possible without your dedication and ongoing support.
Community Night and Ladies Day were both fantastic successes, reinforcing the inclusive and welcoming culture we’re building.
Our committee proudly maintains a 50/50 gender split, demonstrating our commitment to equity at all levels.
Congratulations to Julia Yovanche, who has joined the EDFL Women’s Advisory Board, representing West Coburg with distinction.
We’re excited to share that our new clubrooms have been officially approved, with construction scheduled to begin in September. This is a major milestone for the club’s future.
Our current facilities have been refreshed and cleaned, providing a more welcoming environment for all.
The canteen has a new team and an updated menu, offering quality food and service on game days and during events.
We’ve also submitted a formal application to Merri-bek Council requesting cyclone fencing at both ends of the oval, as well as a new timekeeper’s box—key upgrades that will enhance match-day safety and operations.
We’ve released new club apparel, with strong uptake across all age groups.
We remain committed to clear, transparent communication with players, parents, coaches, and members.
Regular engagement with our senior captain has allowed for valuable feedback and player-led leadership.
We’re proud of the strong relationship with Merri-bek Council, helping us achieve tangible outcomes for our club and community.
We’re proud to have three interleague representatives, showcasing the strength and success of our development programs.
There’s still plenty to be excited about in the second half of the season, including:
Bingo Night
Junior Day
Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser
Mid-Season Ball - plus more
Stay tuned for dates and details. We’d love to see strong attendance and community spirit at each of these events.
Thank you once again for your ongoing involvement and support. We look forward to continuing this fantastic journey together.
